Why use stamped concrete instead of just using real slate, flagstone or brick?
There is no one single answer to this question. Some will choose stamped concrete because it is far more affordable than the materials for which it substitutes. Others choose it for its durability and still others will choose it for its esthetics and artistic qualities. Whatever the reason, once you’ve chosen decorative, stamped concrete we’re certain you will be happy with your decision.
Stamped concrete begins with adding color directly to the concrete mix. The mix is then poured and troweled smooth. Before the concrete is stamped, additional highlighting colors can be added according to your taste and the look you are trying to achieve.

Even after the concrete has been stamped and has hardened, stains can be applied to the surface to further enhance its look. Really, saying that what can be achieved with stamped concrete is limited only by your imagination may sound like a pretty bold statement but it’s absolutely the case.
It’s important to remember that stamped concrete is a substitute for natural materials. As such, it’s unfair to expect that the completed installation will look exactly like the real thing. Having said that, because of the multitude of patterns, color choices, and stains available, you can achieve looks that Mother Nature herself hasn’t even come up with yet. The final product of any stamping job is always a little bit unique and can be best described as artwork.

In the end, the choice to go with stamped concrete vs. natural materials is one that only you can make. Do not let anyone talk you out of one thing and into another. For example, if your contractor tries to talk you into concrete pavers or unilock because that’s where his expertise lies, you’ll never be happy with the installation in the long run. The same goes for stamped concrete. If you want authentic stone, then don’t settle for anything else.
